I found an article entitled "Scientists confirm fireball in
Northwest
Honduras was meteorite" at
http://www.marrder.com/htw/special/environment/16.htm
which suggests that there were indeed impacts from this bolide.
The original
landslide in San Luis, widely reported in the news media, is
currently assumed
to have been an unrelated endogenous event.
This event provides a useful object lesson for studies of ancient
catastrophies. Even though the landslide was (probably) unrelated
to the
bollide, the people of San Luis associated them. We can expect
such
associations to recur frequently. Distinguishing such
"fanciful" connections
from genuine impact-generated catastrophies may prove very
difficult.
